In Memoriam—Carrie Flowers

In Memoriam—Carrie Flowers

We’re supposed to be prepared for the moment when we lose our parents—that’s the natural order of things. But my mother was so much more than the woman who gave birth to me. She was my best friend, my confidante, my prayer warrior, my travel buddy, my North Star.

Though I knew this day was coming, I was no less devastated when the worst happened—My mother, Carrie Flowers, died yesterday, December 16, 2020, at age 85.

I will be forever grateful for the grace and wisdom that this mighty woman instilled in me, for the example she set raising six girls by herself on a farm. I am who I am because of who she was, and for as long as I live, I will never stop working to make her proud.

In thinking about her life and legacy, I wanted to share this post I wrote for her on Mother’s Day.

With so much heartache in the world, I hope you’ll take some time this holiday season to think about what’s most important and send some love to those closest to you—whether in person or virtually.

Xo,

Hattie
