STEAM Academy 2020

STEAM academy 2020

STEAM Academy 2020 is a free, first-of-its-kind, virtual five-week summer program open to students, ages five to 16.

No matter where a young learner is on their educational path, the STEAM Academy is for them!

Registration for STEAM Academy is now closed. If you need any assistance, please call 855-783-2620 (855-STEAM20).

WEEK OF

June 15 – July 13

The Academy will run from the week of June 15 to the week of July 13—and includes three-to-four hours per week of online instruction provided by Accelerate Learning’s STEMscopes learning platform, an award-winning, research-based national leader in PreK-12 STEM curriculum in conjunction with STEAM content provided by corporate partners and sponsors such as:

  • Axxess, home healthcare technology provider
  • Microsoft
  • Texas Instruments
  • The Beck Group
  • University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center
  • Dallas Symphony Orchestra
  • Jacobs Engineering
  • Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART)
  • AT&T
  • Dallas Mavericks

STEAM Academy 2020 effectively aligns with Dallas Works, Mayor Eric Johnson’s Summer Youth Employment Program, and Future Focus Camp, a college readiness and career exploration camp for rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors by the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and the Dallas Regional Chamber. Due to social distancing concerns, these two programs have elected to serve students virtually this summer, rather than cancel altogether. Alongside the STEAM Academy, these programs and their respective organizations will offer a continuum of enrichment for students, focused on education, job readiness and employment opportunities.

Thanks to the generosity of our partners and sponsors, we are proud to offer the Academy free of charge!

Your child will need access to a computer or tablet and a high-speed internet connection.

The T.D. Jakes Foundation is mindful of the digital divide that affects too many communities across the country and, specifically, in Dallas County. To help close the digital divide, we are working with volunteers and corporate partners to identify the need for digital devices and internet connectivity and work through various options to remedy the problem. When registering, you will be asked whether your child has access to these devices and broadband internet. We will make every attempt to address these needs but cannot guarantee that we will be able to fulfill all technology needs.
